4th Grade Memories

I have a lot of good memories. My favorite memories are playing soccer with Mr. Evans.  It was always so fun to pass the ball between the players.  I love playing on Mr. Evans’ team because he always made sure he would pass the ball to me.  I have never played soccer on a team so I’m not very good at it.  Another good memory was the Invention Convention.  I loved the idea of inventing something new.  I also enjoyed presenting my idea to the school.  It was pretty cool to have other students come see my work.  One of my favorite memories in 4th grade was learning how to knit and fingers knit.  Thanks to my amazing teacher,  Mrs. Midkiff, knitting will always be part of my life.  When I learned how to knit I made a few things, like scarves, headbands, coin pouches, and fingerless gloves.  I even made a shawl for my grandma and I was able to send her to heaven with it.  After a while I got a little bored of making 2D stuff; I wanted to knit 3D stuffed animals.  That’s when I made a mouse named Emmy, an octopus named Ellie, a turtle named Michelle, and a bunny named Pickle.   After that  Mrs. Midkiff encouraged me to knit a scene, instead of drawing a picture, for my Ben and Me Project.

Fourth grade was a great year but my least favorite thing about fourth grade was all the homework.  I was also disappointed when we couldn’t go back to school and we did distance learning.  Because of this we missed out on many things that the teachers’ had planned, like Civil War Bootcamp, cooking in Math class, digging through the dirt to learn about erosion, our Kenmore Project, and the Why the Sun and the Moon Live in the Sky concert.  Over all I had a great year and I can’t wait for 5th grade.

Gary and the Cursed Helicopter

It was a Saturday morning, the day after Gary’s birthday.  Gary was an only child and had just turned three.  One of the gifts Gary got was a Lego helicopter from his Nana.  Gary quickly put the small pieces together and made the helicopter. He saw a little Lego man and decided to name him Jeffrey.  He said Jeffrey was 30 years old and a new pilot.  When Gary went to breakfast and fished his eggs and bacon he accidentally threw out the toy helicopter along with Jeffrey.  Before Gary noticed he had thrown away his helicopter and pilot he returned to his seat, then realized he had just thrown away his new helicopter and pilot.  As soon as Gary noticed the missing toys he ran as fast as he could but he had just learned to walk and wasn’t the best at it.  By that time Gary’s father had already thrown the trash bag into the garbage truck because last night he forgot to put the trashcan out to the curb.  Jeffrey was mortified!  He had just learned to be a pilot and did not know what to do. Luckily before Gary threw away his helicopter he had put the batteries in the toy so Jeffrey quickly turned on the helicopter and tore through the trash bag.  Mean while Gary had just gotten to his father in tears.  Saying that he accidentally threw his helicopter into the trash and that he just gave the helicopter to the trash man.  Gary and his parents hopped into their small baby-blue Volkswagon Beetle and sped off after the trash truck.  Luckily they were the last stop so they drove straight to the landfill.  Jeffrey was still trying to get through the trash bag. He was caught under a dirty diaper that was not closed properly and got caught in his propellers but finally got free from the diaper with his life and a dirty windshield.  Luckily Jeffrey knew how to turn on his windshield wipers so he could see again.  While that was happening he was getting dumped into a trash compactor.  Thankfully he maneuvered to the ground and under the compactor.  Under the compactor there was a very very hungry bloodhound.  You could tell it was starving, by it’s beady blue eyes.  It picked up the helicopter and tried to chew “the meat” off.  Jeffrey turned on his propellers, the dog did not like the propellers.  He grabbed the “animal” and ran to the port-a-potty to through the helicopter in.  That is when Jeffrey’s dad pulled in.  He saw the bloodhound and noticed he was holding the toy helicopter.  He quickly pulled over and took his son out of the car by that time Jeffrey was in the port-a-potty.  Garry quickly ran over as he was going to grab the helicopter he used the handle that flushes as a grip to pull out the helicopter, but accidentally flushed.  After realizing what happened Gary’s family went to go ask one of the people who work at the landfill where the plumbing let to.  They answered that their plumbers had been working on a way to deposit the droppings to a sewage that led to the pacific ocean.  They said he should hurry.  They got in the car and went to place the man had described.  After sitting in the car for 2 hours Gary was very cranky but was determined to find his toy.  In the sewage Jeffrey was getting swooshed around and it was getting hard to maneuver the helicopter.  But he manage with all the twists and turns.  Then he saw daylight but it was quickly fading;  Gary has just gotten to the Pacific Ocean and found the sewage drain.  Gary waited for a minute and out came the disgusting helicopter and Jeffrey, he quickly grabbed it before it could disappear into the ocean.  The car ride home was as bad since Gary had his new but dirty toy with him.  When Gary got home his mother disinfected the toy.  From that day on Gary would be more careful with his toys.

My animal was the cheetah. I chose the cheetah because I thought it was interesting. I learned that cheetahs can run 70 miles per hour. I was nervous for my presentation. Some of the fun facts are when cheetahs are ready to mate, they urinate.

Our tour guide was Mrs.  O’connel. She was very  nise. She showed us the new room. In the new room there was a lot of paintings and there was a portrait of a king named King Louis the 16th from France. My favorite part of outside was George Washington’s tomb. It was very fancy and Martha his wife was buried next to him along with their relatives. At the education center there was a statue of George Washington taking the oath and a dress that Martha wore.
