Dear First Grade Families,

Can you believe that this week is our last week of classes this year? I am so proud of the work that you have done to continue to practice Spanish at home! I hope you have enjoyed the videos and various practice activities. This week we will finish our unit on nature by doing a scavenger hunt outdoors and recording a final video project of you exploring nature.

I’m also looking forward to “seeing” you at the super-fun End-of-the-Year Events!! Please know that I miss you and that I hope you have a wonderful summer break!!

¡Adiós!

-Maestra Lontor

Session 1

  • Now it’s your turn to go on a scavenger hunt! Print or copy this sheet on a separate piece of paper. Read it with your special helper and make sure you understand what it says. Then, go outdoors and find the things for each square. When you find one, place it in the proper square. When you are done finding all the items, take a picture of your sheet with all the things you found and share it with me!
  • Sing the “Adiós” song to finish the lesson.

Session 2

  • Sing the “Hola” song to begin the lesson.
  • Use the following documents for reference: la naturaleza 1 , la naturaleza 2los sentidos

  • Sing the “Adiós” song to finish the lesson.

Dear first-grade families,

I hope you enjoy it!

-Maestra Lontor

Dear First-Grade Families,

I hope you all had a restful weekend and feel refreshed to start a new week!

This week, we will continue to study farm animals. This time, we will learn how to ask about what sound an animal makes (“¿Cómo HACE el animal?”) and learn about how some of these sounds are written and how they sound different in English. For example, did you know that the dog says “GUAU”, not “WOOF”!

Enjoy!

-Maestra Lontor

  • Use the following document for reference: What sound do the animals make?
  • Watch this video of a story about a chick in the farm who has a little accident!

  • Open this super-funny video and dance and sing along to “El Pollito Pio”!  You can watch it once at normal playback speed and then slow it down so that it is easier to understand by clicking on the “settings” button (which looks like a gear), and choosing “.75 speed.”

  • Complete the following worksheet about farm animal sounds. If you can’t print it, copy it and complete it on a piece of paper. Send me a picture!
  • Sing the “Adiós” song to finish the lesson.

Session Two

  • Use the following document for reference: What sound do the animals make?
  • Watch this video of Maestra Lontor where she teaches you a fun song and a farm animals guessing game.

  • Watch this video and keep playing the guessing game while you sing along.

  • Open this worksheet and write down the name of the animal in Spanish. Include also the sound it makes. If you can’t print it, write down your answers on a separate piece of paper and share it with me!
  • Sing the “Adiós” song to finish the lesson.

Dear First-Grade Families,

¡Hola! I hope that you are all well and that your child is enjoying the videos and activities. Thank you very much for the videos and photos that were shared! I am so impressed by the work students are doing! Bravo!

This week, students will continue to study wild animals. This time, we will focus on describing them. (Their size, body parts, what they can do, what they eat, etc.) Next week will be our Spring Break, so there will not be any Spanish lessons.

I would really appreciate it if you could give me some feedback about Spanish class so far. Do you think the lessons and activities are an appropriate length and level? Do you enjoy having two lessons per week, or would it be more feasible to do one? Are there any activities you would like to do? I will spend some time planning over the break and will definitely take into consideration any and all feedback that I get from families.

¡Muchas gracias!

-Maestra Lontor

Dear First Grade Families,

¡Hola!

I hope that you are all doing well and that last week’s assignments were as much fun as possible! Please do not hesitate to let me know if your child struggled to complete the lessons or if anything about them was overwhelming to you.

This week, each Spanish lesson includes an instructional video and a fun game related to it. I have also included an optional activity in case your child would like to do more!

We will be reviewing fruits and colors as well as expressing likes and dislikes. They will also review how to express they are hungry! (“¡Tengo hambre!”)

I encourage you to send me photos or videos of your child having fun working on their Spanish! This is completely optional and is simply so that I can see their progress if you would like to share. You can email me at jlontor@fredericksburgacademy.org.

I miss the students very much!

Warm Regards,

Maestra Lontor
