Week of 5/18/2020:

Hello Mrs. Llufrio’s and Mrs. Rosnick’s classes!

Today we are going to continue recording songs for our digital performance of Pete the Cat and the New Guy.

This week, everyone needs to record themselves singing our last song:

There Is Something Everyone Can Do

IMPORTANT RECORDING INFO

When you record yourself, you need to wear headphones so you can listen to the practice track while you sing.  This way you can hear the practice track, but it won’t be heard on your recording.  It’s really important that you are listening to the practice track so everyone’s recordings will be the exact same speed.  This will allow me to combine them together!

Here’s a video of me demonstrating this:  Mr. Santulli records himself!

ONE MORE IMPORTANT THING

If you send it to me, I WILL be sharing it with the public like a concert.  Check with your parents.  If you don’t want to be seen, then only send me audio and not video.

*You can also send me a video and tell me only to share the audio and I can pull the audio out of the video file for you.*

When you finish your recording, please send it to me at zsantulli@fredericksburgacademy.org

Next week for your last music class of the year, we will have our digital performance!  Using all of your wonderful recordings I will compile them into a single video, upload it to YouTube, and send it out for you to watch and share with your friends and families wherever they are!

Miss you all and hope you are well

Mr. Santulli

Week of 5/11/2020:

Hello Mrs. Llufrio’s and Mrs. Rosnick’s classes!

Today we are going to continue recording songs for our digital performance of Pete the Cat and the New Guy.

This week, everyone needs to record themselves singing these two songs:

There’s No One Quite Like Gus

Grumpy Toad’s Cure for the Blues

IMPORTANT RECORDING INFO

When you record yourself, you need to wear headphones so you can listen to the practice track while you sing.  This way you can hear the practice track, but it won’t be heard on your recording.  It’s really important that you are listening to the practice track so everyone’s recordings will be the exact same speed.  This will allow me to combine them together!

Don’t forget that you will need to find something to use as YOUR instrument.  Use whatever you have!  A Tupperware container filled with something could be a shaker, rain stick, or thunder tube, a box or pot could be a xylophone or drum, anything bumpy could be a guiro scraper, and a frying pan makes a great gong or cymbal!  Part of the WOW part of this digital performance will be all the neat things you found to be your instrument!

When you finish your recording, please send it to me at zsantulli@fredericksburgacademy.org

Miss you all and hope you are well!

I hope you’ve been practicing with all the tracks I’ve been sending every week because now…….WE ARE GOING TO TRY SOMETHING SUPER EXCITING!!!

Week of 4/6/2020:

Hello Mrs. Llufrio’s class!

It’s time for more Pete the Cat and the New Guy songs!

So far, we’ve practiced your arrangement of “Octopus Tries His Best”

Octopus Tries His Best  (arranged by Mrs. Llufrio’s class)

And last week we also practiced the two songs arranged by the other classes.

Owl the Neighborhood Watch (arranged by Mrs. Rosnik’s class)

Squirrel Says Hello (arranged by Mrs. Grabfelder’s class)

Practice these three songs again.  For “Octopus Tries His Best” don’t forget that you will need to find something to use as YOUR instrument.  Use whatever you have!  A Tupperware container filled with something could be a shaker, rain stick, or thunder tube, a box or pot could be a xylophone or drum, anything bumpy could be a guiro scraper, and a frying pan makes a great gong or cymbal!  Anything you can find in your house will work to give you practice playing your instrument part while you sing.

For Owl and Squirrel just practice singing the songs.

This week let’s add the rest of the songs!  There are no instrument parts to worry about, so just sing along with me in the video and have fun!  Try to sing without looking at the words.

I’m Pete the Cat

There’s No One Quite Like Gus

Grumpy Toad’s Cure for the Blues

There Is Something Everyone Can Do

Have fun!  If you want to  record yourself (audio or video) feel free to send it to me at zsantulli@fredericksburgacademy.org  I’d love to hear and see what you are doing!

Week of 3/30/2020:

Mrs. Llufrio’s Class:

Hello Mrs. Llufrio’s third grade!

This week we are going to continue practicing our Pete the Cat and the New Guy songs.

Even though we won’t be back at school to perform them, I am working on a way that we can share our arrangements.  More on that later!  For now, let’s keep practicing your awesome songs!

First, I want you to practice your classes song again, just like last week.  That’s the one you and your third grade classmates arranged: “Octopus Tries His Best.”

Practice singing the song with the words in front of you, and also without looking at the words.

Don’t forget that you will need to find something to use as YOUR instrument.  Use whatever you have!  A Tupperware container filled with something could be a shaker, rain stick, or thunder tube, a box or pot could be a xylophone or box, anything bumpy could be a guiro scraper, and a frying pan makes a great gong or cymbal!  Anything you can find in your house will work to give you practice playing your instrument part while you sing.

This week I’d also like you to practice singing with the songs arranged by the other classes.  Since they are playing the instruments, all you need to do is make sure you can sing the words.  Practice singing the songs with the words in front of you, and also without looking at the words.

Week of 3/23/2020:

Mrs. Llufrio’s Class:

Hello Mrs. Llufrio’s third grade!

For the weeks that we are learning from home, I would like you to continue practicing your Pete the Cat and the New Guy songs at home so when we get back to FA we can find a way to perform our show!

I’ve created practice tracks for each song for you that even have the instrument sounds!

This week, I just want you to focus on your class’s song.  That’s the one you and your third grade classmates arranged: “Octopus Tries His Best.”

First, practice singing the song with the words in front of you, and also without looking at the words.

Second, find something to use as YOUR instrument.  Use whatever you have!  A tupperware container filled with something could be a shaker, rain stick, or thunder tube, a box or pot could be a xylophone or box, anything bumpy could be a guiro scraper, and frying pan makes a great gong or cymbal!  Anything you can find in your house will work to give you practice playing your instrument part while you sing.

Each week I will add some of the other songs for you to practice.  Have fun!  And if you want to  record yourself (audio or video) feel free to send it to me at zsantulli@fredericksburgacademy.org

Week of March 16, 2020

Hello Falcons!

I hope that you are all well.  I will be sending you weekly music lessons!
Here is your first lesson in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

Traditional Irish Blessing
Music by Carol Erion
May the road rise to meet you
May the wind be always at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
May the rain fall soft upon your fields
And until we meet again
May you rest in the palm of God’s hand.
Lesson
Step 1.  Test out your ability to watch and listen to a YouTube video
Step 2.  Sing along where it’s comfortable for your voice
Step 3.  While you sing, pat your lap in time with the piano
Step 4.  Have someone record you with their smartphone or tablet (sound only or video, your choice) and email it back to me:
Bonus step:  Use something from your house as an instrument and play it with the rhythm of the piano.  It can be an actual instrument or anything you have like a pot, tupperware, empty bucket, or whatever you have!
EXTRA bonus step: Teach someone at your house to sing this song with you!
Have fun and sing proud!
