No computer work this week. But I found this really neat set of videos that talk about learning about what surrounds us outdoors! Parents, it is about 15 minutes long. It is a little dated, as you can tell by clothing and transportation, but as my pastor would say “Sometimes you have to chew the meat and throw away the bone!” My video is about 10 minutes. Have a wonderful Spring Break!
The bees are buzzing. The grass is growing. The birds are singing. Its time to get outside and work!
First things first. The grass and weeds are beginning to grow. Your parents may have already started to cut the grass in your yard. But what do you do when you have more than a yard to cut?
This video shows where I will start our garden.
Last time, we were together, we talked about pollinators. Pollinators are animals that can transfer pollen from flower to flower. If the flower is part of a fruit or vegetable plant, this is where the food portion comes from. Pollination is very important to us because a lot of our foods come from plants. Usually when we think of pollinators, we think of bees. The video below is me in front of a honeysuckle vine. I think this is a Japanese Honeysuckle, but should not be here, because it can cause problems. But today, its a good day to be a pollinator!
Included here, is link for a neat story, called Please, Please, the Bees by Gerald Kelley I found while looking for read aloud stories online. Click here!

It is very strange not being in the library on Thursday afternoon this week. But fear not! I am still reading (with permission of Scholastic Publishing) Shaq and the Beanstalk by children’s author and former NBA basketball player, Shaquille O’Neal!
I love fractured fairy tales. Once we finish Shaq’s adventures, I’ll see what else I can share online! Have a great weekend!
In honor of Spider Day, Kindergarten students learned to sing “The Itsy Bitsy Spider” in Foreign Language class. We acted out the story and played lots of games in order to practice. Check out the videos below to get a taste of the fun from French and Spanish class!
During this month’s meeting, the gardeners had a chance to sample kale chips and fresh kale along with their JMG snack. Smooth kale is being grown in the garden. We braved the rain and planted seed garlic, which we hope to see next spring. It will be ready to harvest over the summer for the summer programs or the Food Bank.
It is not too late for your JMGs to donate food to our “Stems, Leaves, Roots, and Seeds” food drive for the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank. We sorted the donations that we already had according to type. I will coordinate with the other classrooms that are making donations to take to the food bank in the next two weeks.
Next month’s JMG date tbd because of the December calendar.
