My Fourth Grade Year

There were many things that made my fourth-grade year amazing. My teachers, special school projects and the things I studied and learned during the year made me want to come to school every day. Even though I was sad because the year was shortened and I had to do online schooling for the last few months, I still think that it was one of the best years I have had while in elementary school.

One thing that made my fourth-grade year so incredible were the teachers that I had. One example of why they were so great, was that they always made learning fun. My teachers were funny and always made the best puns. They often made me smile. I also enjoyed when Mr. Evans played sports with my friends and I during recess. I loved playing football, basketball, and soccer with Mr. Evans. I also love how I could always ask questions and enjoyed being challenged by my teachers’ questions too. Additionally, I thought it was cool how my teachers rewarded the class for getting our work done by giving us fun activities to do.

Another thing that made my fourth-grade year so awesome and was the most memorable activity I did this year, was the science fair. I liked how we had to come up with our own invention and build it. I also liked how we had to write a journal and draft a patent application. I really enjoyed learning about my classmates’ inventions. I thought it was great to see   what other classmates’ problems were and how their inventions helped them solve that problem. It was fun being able to talk to parents, teachers, and other students about my invention. Finally, it was interesting to see other classmates of mine present their inventions.

The last amazing thing that made my fourth-grade year spectacular were the books that I read during the year. One of my favorite books would have to be Harriet Tubman, The Road to Freedom. The Road to Freedom is a book based on Harriet Tubman’s life. It is a very historical book. It tells the story of how Harriet Tubman escaped slavery and saved more lives by making the underground railroad. I liked how it was based on a true story. I was fascinated to learn what it was like to be a slave in those times. I thought that it was very thought provoking. I also learned a lot about the Harriet Tubman’s life.

In conclusion, fourth grade was my most favorite year so far. My teachers, the science fair, and the great books I read made me enthusiastic about school and learning. I wouldn’t mind repeating fourth grade because it was the BEST YEAR EVER.

One Wish

It was a Friday night and I had tickets to go watch the Lakers play against the Bucks in L.A. I was so excited because I was about to see my favorite team, the Lakers, play against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Lakers are my favorite team because Lebron James is on the Lakers and I think he is the best basketball player of all time. I have been a fan of him since I was born. I try to watch all of his games on live television. Aside from Lebron being my favorite player, the other reason I am so excited to see the game is because basketball is my favorite sport. I play basketball whenever I have a chance. I play basketball 24/7. I play indoors, in the snow, in the rain, and in one-hundred-degree weather.

Since I do not get to go to live games very often, this game was even a bigger treat because the Lakers had some amazing plays and it was a nail biter. I had been thoroughly enjoying the game. Then, I looked up at the clock and realized that there was only three seconds left and the Lakers were down by two points. Kyle Kuzma rolled the ball to half court so it would not waste any time. Lebron picked it up and chucked right into the net. The buzzer went beep and the Lakers won the game! At that moment, I looked to the man next to me and I said, “I wish I was an NBA star on the Lakers team.”  The man looked back at me and said, “if you say so,” and then nodded his head forward. I thought his answer was strange but then I quickly turned my head the other direction because my mom was tapping my shoulder.  She was telling me that we needed to leave because the game was over, and my big brother Dylan was very tired and about to fall asleep.

The next morning, I woke up in a different room. I got out of bed and walked out of the room. This was not my house. It was enormous. It could not be my house. My house was smaller and had a white exterior. The house that I was standing in was a grey modern house and about ten times larger. Then I looked out my window and saw people holding signs saying, “he is too young.” Another group held signs that said, “go Lakers.” Suddenly, I heard the phone ringing from my bedroom. I ran for the phone and saw that the caller I.D. read Frank Vogel. I said to myself, “Frank Vogel!  He is the coach of the Lakers.” I ran to the phone and picked it up. He said, “I thought I told you practice was at 11:00 not 12:00. I guess I forgot to tell you about the change in practice time. Never mind that, just come to tomorrow’s practice.” Then he quickly hung up the phone.

I got dressed in a hurry and walked out of the house. Then my mom said, “you’re going to be late to meet your friends at Disneyland.” In traffic everybody was honking at my mom and me. I kept looking back and wondering why everybody was honking. When there was a red light, people got out of their cars and started to hit our car. We had to run the red light so that no damage would happen to our car. We arrived at the park. We got out of our car and walked through the entrance. People began to chase me with photos of me playing basketball in a Lakers uniform. I stopped running and asked the lady holding my picture why she was chasing me. She responded with a quick answer. “What do you mean silly? You are an NBA player. Stop joking around and sign my picture, please.” I then realized that my wish from last night came true.  I was now an NBA player on the Lakers team.

While I was excited to be an NBA player, I realized that I should have wished to become an NBA player when I am older.  To that end, becoming a player at ten years old had too many challenges and headaches.

The Escape

My name is Taylor. I am writing about the escape of the Lego NBA players. I am the pilot of Helicopter Twenty Three. I fly the Los Angeles Lakers around but today I’m also flying the entire Toronto Raptors team because their plane broke down. We’re coming from L.A. because the Lakers just played the Raptors. The Lakers are first flying to Toronto to drop off the Raptors and then the Lakers will head to Milwaukee to play the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA finals. On our way to Toronto, the controls completely shut down so I had to crash land. When we hit the ground in Toronto with a tremendous force, I asked if everybody was okay.  I saw that Serge Ibaka’s arm was broken and he had cuts all over his arms and legs. I also saw that Kyle Lowery was knocked out and laying on the ground.  I looked out the window and saw a wide field full of green grass and colorful flowers. It looked beautiful and peaceful. I then turned my head slowly to the right and saw a dog staring at me. I said, “everybody be quiet. There’s a ginormous dog staring at me.” Kyle Kuzma then whispered to me and said, “I think its hungry.” Then the dog tried to jump on top and punch a hole through the roof of the mangled helicopter in order to devour Kyle Lowery. However, Lebron quickly grabbed Kyle Lowery’s bloody arm and kept him in the helicopter. I realized with this ferocious dog outside, we were going to have to escape during the night.

That evening after the bright sun went down, we could see that the dog had fallen asleep on the porch of the big white house. We decided to make our escape. Everyone in the helicopter, including myself, quickly sprinted to the house and opened the door. For some reason, the creaking door did not wake up the exhausted dog. Once inside, we ran up the long, steep staircase. We saw a kid’s bedroom down the hallway and quietly opened the door. We then saw a Lego limo which we knew could fit everyone inside. We jumped into the limo and headed for the stairs. Not going to lie, it was pretty bumpy going down the stairs. Lebron jumped out and opened the door while we drove the limo onto the porch. Lebron hopped in the moving limo  just as we flew off the stairs. We flew through the air so far that we landed in the road. To that end, the Lakers were able to go to Milwaukee and win the first two games. The Lakers then headed to L.A. by bus because nobody wanted to take a helicopter. The Lakers ended up winning all four games and won the NBA finals.

The Amazing Dingle Dog.

It was a dark and scary night and I was sleeping on my owner’s bed when I heard a scream come from the place next door. The people that live in the house next door are the princess and prince. The princess’s dad is the king of a kingdom miles and miles away. We live in a little town in Ireland next to the ocean called Dingle. I always thought it was weird because her dads’ rivalry kingdom overlooked our small village. When I woke up to her horrible screech, I jumped up and accidentally woke up my owner. He jumped out of bed. I led the way outside. When we got outside, we saw the princess being kidnapped by the knights of the bad kingdom. We saw the prince still sleeping. I said, “we must go back to sleep. We have a long day ahead of us getting the princess back.” My owner said, “you are not going.” I then said, “you are not going. Me and the prince will go.”  “Fine,” he shouted at me.

Eight hours later, I woke up sitting in a wagon going up the hill towards the castle. Before I could say a word, the prince started to dictate what our plans for getting the princess back would be. My sword was in my pocket.  I then asked how long we have been in the wagon. Another voice chimed in. It was the driver of the wagon and he said, “about five minutes.” After all it was only a ten minute wagon ride. Then I looked down. I was wearing a knight costume. We got up the hill. We saw knights, clowns, and even the bad queen drinking some tea. I admired the kingdom. The prince and I hopped out of the wagon and entered the castle. I stopped. I tapped on the prince’s shoulder and whispered, “wow the security here really sucks.” He stared at me for a second and then started to laugh. I then joined in. One of the guards tapped my shoulder and pointed down one of the many hallways. The prince then whispered in my ear, “oh I forgot to tell you, I’m here to pretend that I want to marry the princess.” I then said,”is that why your wearing a tux?” He said, “yeah, I guess.” I said, “what do you mean,  you guess?” He said he thought he would look cooler if he was in a tux rather than his normal clothes. He was then stopped mid sentence by a guard. “Are you going or not,” the guard asked. We started to walk down the hallway when the prince said, “look in your pocket.” I looked and there was a lot of money. I asked ,”what is all of this money for and why do you have a dog carrying it?” He said,”we are paying this king so that i can fake marry the princess.  Apparently, this king lied and said that the princesses he kidnapped was his own daughter and he was going to allow anyone to marry her who paid him a large amount of money.  The prince had decided that he would pay this money so that he could get her back.

Suddenly, we saw the king and the kidnapped princess.  We walked over to the king and gave him the money and the prince said, “we will take her now.”  The king stopped the prince from taking her back.  He said, ” we already have a ceremony arranged so you are too late.”  Then, my costume fell off.  The king looked at me and said, “I know who you are.”  He then called for security.  We pushed him into the chair and started to run.  The prince tackled the guard and told me to run with the princess.  We ran and ran.  Then the princess punched the guard blocking the door.  When we got outside, we saw that the wagon was ready to go.  We hopped in and then all of a sudden the roof of the wagon broke open.  It was the prince.  He had fought all of the guards and jumped off the second floor of the castle.  He landed inside the wagon.  The horses started to run.

We went all the way back down the mountain.  When we arrived, the princess’ parents, the king and queen of the other kingdom and basically all of the kingdom were waiting for us.  The princess jumped out and gave her dad and mom a big hug.   “We missed you so much,” said the king and the queen together.  In conclusion, this is the story of how the prince and I saved the princess.

Second we made notes so we could remember all the facts we spent two week doing this, then we were ready to work on our presiontaion. We put pictures and wrote facts about the Great white Shark then we had to write details about the facts and thats we had to do sorry if it was to short.
