We were very excited to try the candy that you sent us. We have the same candy, but we did a taste test to see if there was a difference between the French and American versions. We learned that this is called “comparing,” when you find the similarities and differences between two things.

First of all, the name is different: in France they are called “Very Bad Kids” but in America we call them “Sour Patch Kids.”

The design of the package is very similar: yellow with green edges and pictures of the kids on there.

The slogan means the same thing: Sour then Sweet = Acides puis Doux.

We compared the color of the candies:

The colors are different because in America we use artificial food dyes, which are not used in Europe.

The shapes were slightly different: the French ones were a bit more puffy.

Finally, the taste test! The flavors were similar but not exactly the same for all except the blue/black ones. “Cassis” is called “blackcurrant” in English, and it’s not a flavor that we have in America.

We also thought that the French ones were chewier than the American ones.
