September 21 Noon- 5pm View finished works of art, congratulate FA artists!

The weekend is filled with artists and musicians of ALL ages from many different walks of life and corners of the state. We will pave the streets with color once again with cartoons, Renaissance reproductions, portraits, graffiti, and local artist-created inspirations.  As the Artist Chair for the event, my job entails a year-long recruitment: I now have 18 FA students and 3 faculty members adding to the 100+ artists signed up to create “squares” of 4 to 10 feet filled with colorful artwork.  Sponsored this year by the Womens and Girls Fund as a featured artist, I’ll be creating an original work of art featuring twins Bella and Bianca from our second grade classes.

Please consider attending the festival, sponsoring a square ( $100 for a 4 foot), taking photos to share with FA, and/or following us on Facebook/ viacolorifredericksburg.  Our website is www.viacolorifredericksburg.org, and you will notice a huge change this year. Our beneficiary non-profit, The Grace Oughton Cancer Foundation, will receive the funds generated by our sponsors. We are helping kids all over Virginia diagnosed with cancer have a mobile lab for at-home services, avoiding lengthy commutes and exposure to illness in large facilities. What greater chance to make a difference- cheer on your classmate and enjoy a truly unique festival that celebrates the efforts and diversity of many hands! Pictures will follow after the 20th…see you there,
